Creating a dialogue among child professionals will be at the heart of the 9th Child in the City World Conference. It takes place in the Austrian capital, Vienna, from September 24-26. With more than 100 international speakers spread over the three days, this will be the biggest ever Child in the City World Conference.
“The conference brings together 500 children’s rights advocates, urban designers, researchers and NGOs to talk about the important topic of Child-Friendly Cities,” says Johan Haarhuis, President of the Child in the City Foundation. The conference is one of the leading conferences on child-friendly policies and research.
The conference programme consists of both plenary and interactive parallel sessions, plus interesting field trips to child-friendly projects through the city of Vienna.
This year, four themes are the main thread throughout the programme:
- Children’s rights in urban development and regeneration
- Children and young people and media
- Equality and diversity in the child-friendly city
- Mobility and access to the child-friendly city
The world conference, which takes place every two years, is a key opportunity for children’s professionals, city planners, geographers and policy makers to share knowledge, good practice and research findings from the various disciplines that are important to the shared aim of creating child-friendly cities.
Registration closes June 30, 2018.
