Sacramento is gearing up for conference attendees to come together to network with each other, learn from industry experts, and to share important experiences and best practices. More than 100 education sessions will provide attendees of all experience levels (basic to executive) with creative ideas and new tools to implement upon their return to the office. Education sessions run . Featured learning opportunities include sessions on leadership, measuring program results, hiring, critical thinking & problem solving, diversity, inclusion, emergency management, remaking public spaces, managing public conflict, transitioning to a director and much more. The Opening Session on , promises to be informative and entertaining as Keynoter Chris Bashinelli addresses attendees on the topic of connecting with the “Other”. “Bash’s mission in life is to create a Culture of Compassion - - with humor and humility. Chris presents us with a new way of looking at the world. From here, attendees march to the State Capitol for the Parks Make Life Better!® Rally, where together we continue to promote the value of Parks & Recreation. Upon returning to the Convention Center, attendees will enter the Grand Opening of the two day Expo!

Here, people will meet with more than 250 exhibitors in nearly 38,000 net square feet of exhibit space as they search for products, services and solutions pertaining to all aspects of the park, recreation & leisure services industry. The exhibition includes the Silent Auction, where super auction items can be bid upon at participating exhibitors’ booths. 100% of Silent Auction funds go to the California Foundation for Park & Recreation Scholarship Fund. The Expo ends with a grand prize drawing valued at $1500. A new highlight this year is our “Conversations that Matter” which offers you an opportunity to learn from one another on various trending issues. Our closing session “It’s Grow Time - How do I still Move My Organization Forward” will be a town hall format focusing on sensitive areas in the workplace such as unions, wage increase impacts, park users without permits, residents feeling entitled to facility use, and more. There is sure to be something for all attendees.
Following the final education sessions afternoon, the prestigious CPRS Annual Awards Reception and Banquet will take place from Agencies displaying excellence in park planning, facility design, recreation programming, marketing, as well as individuals, organizations and companies who advance the Parks Make Life Better!® message will be recognized for their achievements, thus putting the final touch on this year’s CPRS Conference & Expo.
