Zeager Bros., Inc. is a third-generation family-owned and operated business founded in 1967.  Paul Zeager operated a sawmill in Southcentral Pennsylvania.  His son, Charles, evolved the business to include producing and selling wood mulches for a variety of applications.  In the 1970’s, we developed a natural landscape mulch that was aged and blended to use around plants.  The idea was to conserve soil moisture, insulate the soil from temperature extremes and limit weed growth.  And today, that is still so much of what a good landscape mulch should be about.

Not long after developing a natural landscape mulch, we developed a product for equine training facilities that was used as an all-weather footing. And then something similar for playgrounds that would become known as engineered wood fiber. Since then, we participated with the U.S.D.A.  Forest Products Research Lab in their development of a stabilized engineered wood fiber. Charles also expanded the company by establishing relationships with producers in other parts of the country where production of Zeager products became a major part of their operations.  Their research was a result of the U.S. Access Board’s desire to improve the accessibility of engineered wood fiber, which was recognized as one of the most commonly used playground surfaces.

Today, we offer a full range of landscape and recreation surfaces. It’s our desire to supply you with consistent quality, dependable service and support you can count on.  With four family members now managing the business, Zeager still relies on those relationships as well as many others to produce consistent specs and quality EWF for applications throughout North & Central America.
