Pat Rumbaugh, The Play Lady lives in Takoma Park, Maryland USA. In March, 2009, she founded a play committee in her hometown Takoma Park, Maryland. In early 2011 they started calling themselves Takoma Plays. This is a group of people who wanted to promote play in their community. Since 2009 they have put on over 85 fun FREE play events for people of all ages. On www.letsplayamerica.org you can see videos of past Play Days, two TEDxTalks Pat gave in 2014 on the subject of Play, several articles, a documentary called "The Play Lady," and videos by AARP and Voice of America TV shown nationally and internationally.

On July 28, 2014 www.letsplayamerica.org became an official nonprofit. Pat and Daniel Nakamura Co-founded this organization, so they could promote play nationally. LPA's mission: we strive to encourage people of all ages to play by helping them create playful events in their OWN communities.

Pat has spoken all over the country about the importance of Play. On the LPA website you can see Pat's speaking engagements. Also on that website is the cover of Pat's children's book, Let's Play at the Playground published in 2013.

Pat believes everyone deserves to play. She is actively looking for Grants and Sponsors to help her promote play. Anyone interested in having Pat come to their community or have questions on how to promote play may contact Pat at [email protected].
